Yelagiri Hills

December 30th, 2009

DSC00518130 kms from Bangalore, this lesser known heaven, can be reached by state buses connecting Hosur to Tirupattur and from there on to Yelagiri Hills. Situated at about a height of 1600 m above sea level, this is one trip one will not forget in a hurry. This is actually a wide range of hills. The base of the hill is the small, sleepy town of Tirupattur. The Nandi Hills

At first it is hard to believe that there is such a place like this so near to Bangalore – 60 kms from Majestic to Chikbalapur, and then 30 kms from there to Nandi Hills. This place is so full of hills and terrain that at some heights you can see no ground beneath you – only clouds. So, ideally, one should plan when the sun is not so bright. Languishing in the expectation of justice meted » Read more: Rathore Case

Give ‘em a chance!

December 29th, 2009

Humans, by nature, are a judgmental lot. Despite knowing that it should not be practiced, we go about our work with an opinion about everybody and everything in our sight, without even giving the other guy a simple, standing chance! Although vehemently denied by the International Flight Crew Association, just ask the number of people who have been treated indifferently by the Airlines – and you will come up with an unsettling number. We complain about their treatment at a time, when we ourselves have met out similar treatment to others (Of course that is not an excuse for being treated insidiously by the airlines!). Do you remember the last time you turned a grey face to your newly joined colleague, because you “thought” he was snooty? Or, better still, do you remember the last time you made a faux pass at your neighbor because of “His-dog-must-have-mauled-down-my-petunias” attitude? » Read more: Give ‘em a chance!

December 28th, 2009

India has a staggering number of engineering graduates – 4,64,743! A number, though impressive, has an astounding impact on the overall GDP of our country. The last year, being particularly tough, it had been an eye opener for most of the parents who wanted their son and daughters to don the cap of an engineering graduate. Although, the economy crisis was one of the worst since the Depression, it had brought out some of the truths which we were not ready to acknowledge.

Firstly, an engineering degree is NOT a fool proof against the laggards of » Read more: Recession Story – A Dream Unpublished
