She waits for him to come home,
The two souls, separated by world apart,
Years spent hoping to meet again,
The longing to be together instilled in their hearts.

All she wants is to see him again,
Recalling the days spent together,
Thinking of the day when they’d be united,
Has the desires in her heart reignited.

But today her life will change forever,
A day she never wished she would see,
The news of him never making it back,
Choking her heart, almost giving her a heart attack.

For some it’s just another news,
But for her the world will never be the same,
Suddenly hopes of meeting him lost,
Her life ripper apart, filled with pain.

The pain is too much to bear,
Her hopes have disappeared in thin air,
Why me, why me.. She begs for answers,
The answers are never there.

Sometimes a wait brings hope,
And it calms our anxious hearts,
But some “wait” bring only sorrow,
A wait that has no tomorrow.

Boy meets girl, things move quick,
Nobody gave their love a chance,
It’s been seen a million times before,
Just another hopeless young romance.

But for this couple it was different,
Since day one it was meant to be,
It was that forever fairytale happiness,
The kind you can only see on T.V.

One day she looked at him and asked,
“What is it with your life you’d like to do?”
He gently kissed her forehead and said,
“Sweetheart, I dream to grow old with you”

Smiling because they were so in love,
Suddenly he got down on one knee,
Pulled out a beautiful diamond ring,
And asked “Princess, will you marry me?”

Tears falling from her big brown eyes,
It was a yes as she nodded her head,
And just seven short months later,
These two teenage kids were wed.

They bought a house and settled down,
Got pregnant and gave birth to a little girl,
How is it at just twenty-three years old,
They could have everything in the world.

For fifty years their lives were perfect,
As grandchildren grew the love did too,
But with a simple trip to the doctor,
The future suddenly held a different view.

He was diagnosed with bone cancer,
The doctors didn’t give him very long,
He fought with everything he had left,
But at eighty, he wasn’t very strong.

As he lay in a hospital bed about to die,
Hand in hand with his best friend and wife,
He said “I want you to know since Nineteen,
You’ve been my everything, my whole life”

With tears falling from her big brown eyes,
She asked “did all of your dreams come true?”
He kissed her forehead and with his final breath,
Said “Of course princess, I grew old with you”

A cyclone erupts outside,
Strong winds refusing to die,
Not a soul is in sight,
Can’t anyone hear my soul cry?

Something hurts deep inside,
The pain is too much to bear,
But there ain’t any external wound,
Seems this cruel world doesn’t care.

My arms trying to hold on to the soul,
The soul wanting to forsake it all,
Finally the arms let go,
In a deep hole it descents as it falls.

Body seems dead and cold,
Beseeching the soul to return,
Time slowly sucks life away,
The flame dims as it burns.

Body screaming in pain,
It’s trembling, too much for the soul to see,
Quickly it would be all over,
And soon the soul would be free.

I know I’ve made some mistakes,
And I’ve not always been sweet and kind,
But I’ve never left thy side,
True love like ours is hard to find.

But these words don’t impress the soul,
It wants to feel free like a bird,
It mocks at the reasons given by body,
All reasons to him seem absurd.

The body collapses and falls to the ground,
Finally it succumbs to the pain,
It tried and tried till its last breath,
But all his attempts have gone in vain.

But there is a lesson in this story,
Not all relations last till the end,
Some hearts are meant to be broken,
Not all broken hearts can mend.
