Taro Aso, a fan of ‘Manga’ since childhood ruled the economy of one of the most powerful economies of Asia. He as the Prime Minister of Japan dissolved the parliament of Japan after apologizing for not doing enough for Japan. It is for the first time in 5 decades that the opposition, Democratic Party of Japan, may win over the Liberal Democratic party.
Earlier in 2008 Taro Aso’s family owned mine was alleged for making prisonors of war to work in the mine in 1945, without pay. Curently the company is running by the name Aso Group. This controversy was one of the controversies just before he won the post of Prime Minister.
Taro has been in news for many reading errors for words quite common in Japan. No wonder the name “Taro” is used as a schoolyard taunt for unintelligent students in japan!
Taro successfully followed the path of last two Prime Ministers to make a hattrick of mid term resignations. Mr. Abe was the first, followed by Mr. Fukuda and now Mr. Taro !
Is the economic crisis of Japan so hot to handle?
Under the leaderhip of Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi Japan showed some signs of improvement. After him the economy never saw positive signs. In the year 2008 Japan’s real GDP y-o-y growth dropped below -4% mark. By the end of 2008 the employment, year on year decreased by 0.7% and the industrial growth almost touched -15%! ( Experiencing the Free fall!) Now inflation almost touching the 0 mark (liquidity trap!). On top of it the gross government debt is more than 150% of their $4 trillion GDP.
where will these figures take Japan? An economic crisis mixed with political incapability under the shadow of the century’s longest solar eclipse, what a cocktail.
We hope that this cocktail does not give them years of hangover.
