Vanity is quick sand of reason

Quick Sand

Vanity and pride are different things, though the words are often used synonymously. A person may be proud without being vain. Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves; vanity, to what we would have others think of us.”  Vanity dies hard; in some obstinate cases it outlives the man Vanity is a kitchen sponge; it swells a man with dirt and slops and can be wrung out by a common housewife Vanity is like a slug crawling across a mirror; it focuses on itself, is spineless, and leaves a trail of dirty slime in its wake. Vanity, like a Speedo on a fat man, flatters the wearer in his own eyes and makes him absurd in the view of others. They say that hens do cackle loudest when there is nothing vital in the eggs they have laid Nothing makes one so vain as being told one is a sinner. Conscience makes egotists of us all.
