Jordan on a move

How many of you know Michael Jordan? Quite a lot I guess but how many of you know Jordan, a country?

Jordan is a west Asian country sharing borders with Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Isreal. Much of the land is covered by the Arabian desert except the North-Western part where the capital of the country Amman is located, thanks to the Jordan river.

Jordan is an emerging nation with per capita GDP of $5,547. Since 1999, the liberal economic policies have helped this country to become one of the freest and most competitive economies in the middle east(2009 Heritage foundation Index).

Rags to Riches: the land of Genghis Khan

The worlds 19th largest country has one International Airport, 32% of the population below poverty line and a per capita GDP of $2100. Mongolia is a country bordering China in the south and Russia in the North. More than 30% of its 3 million population, is enganed in subsistence herding! Half of its population are among the world’s poorest. The country has scarcicty of arable land but has large deposits of minerals. Uncertainty Eclipsing Japan

Taro Aso, a fan of ‘Manga’ since childhood ruled the economy of one of the most powerful economies of Asia. He as the Prime Minister of Japan dissolved the parliament of Japan after apologizing for not doing enough for Japan. It is for the first time in 5 decades that the opposition, Democratic Party of Japan, may win over the Liberal Democratic party.

Earlier in 2008 Taro Aso’s family owned mine was alleged for making prisonors of war to work in the mine in 1945, without pay. Curently the company is running by the name Aso Group. This controversy was one of the controversies just before he won the post of Prime Minister.
