Event Mogul after successfully organizing Seven Studs last year, is now all set to launch the new age corporate football tournament ’5′occer under the back drop of UB City, Bangalore’s most famous land mark. This time the excitement is even more because of the excellent promotion based on last year’s feedback. The event will happen on the 17th and 18th of April 2010. This new age football concept compromising of small teams is definitely here to stay. Who knows that some day the entire world might see and hug this concept!

This temple town is similar to university towns across the world. Everything in this town is managed by the temple trust, from food to lodging. It is located on the banks of the river Nethravathi, in the Dakshina Kannada district. It is a scenic drive from Bangalore (275Km) or just 100 Kms from the biggest university town of India, Manipal. Dharmasthala has a lovely Manjunatha temple, with a Lord Shiva Idol. This temple is visited by more than 10000 people daily and it is most crowded on Mondays and holidays. The town also has one of the remotest vintage car museums where you can spot Cadillacs, Rolls-Royeces, Dodges and Renaults. To your surprise all these cars are in running condition. You can also visit the Manjusha Art Museum which has some unique collections.
The operations beauty of this place is to see the temple volunteers serve tens of thousands of visitors piping hot meal everyday. The moment you sit for the lunch, within one minute you will be served the leaf and delicious food pours in almost instantly. It hardly takes 9 minutes to finish the lunch from start to finish. And all this happens simultaneously for a batch of more than thousand people in a huge hall.

Event Mogul corporate football tournament Bangalore

Event Mogul, Bangalore organized a corporate level football tournament on 4th and 5th of October 2009. Ten teams participated in this mega event on the theme ‘De-Stress Bangalore’. Green was selected as the color of the event for this purpose. Thompson Reuters emerged as the winner and EMC was the runners up in the Champion’s Cup. SAP won the challenger’s cup, which was organized for the non qualifiers of the Challenger’s cup.

Every team was given an opportunity to play in atleast 5 thrilling football matches against the traditional one or two matches. The first round consisted of league matches for the every team for the cash prize tournament followed by another set of matches for the non cash tournament for the teams not qualifying the main tournament.

The event happened at the heart of the city just behind the most famous landmark of the city, UB City. The crowd was highly energetic and the food provided at the venue was more than expectations.

Such events can help football in the long term to become one of the most played sports in developing nations like India. This not only promotes football among the corporate but also the common people associated with such events.

The finals of the Champion’s trophy proved that both the teams were equally strong. The game ended 0-0 even after the extra time of 6 minutes. It took 10 penalty shootouts to decide on the champions!

The rule of the game is changing. Many customised version of the most important game of the world have cropped up in the last few years. 5 a side, 6 side and even 7 a side tournaments have brought the game in news many a times. Will this change, revolutionize the football world just like the rediscovered 20-20 version of cricket. Who knows, in a few years countries would play a 7-7 football for 30 mins to win a world cup. Times are changing and so are the rules.

Why football?

Sports activities like Football is considered as one of the most effective way of de-stressing. Promotion of sports activities among corporate not only reduce stress but also increase the fitness coefficient. In addition to these there is a lot more to win!

Event Mogul, Bangalore is organizing one such customised football tournament named “Seven Studs” in September this month for the corporates. The high energy competition is aimed at bringing out the best of the corporate world. It aims at disproving the stereotype that the corporate can only work and play at their desks. Bangalore once known to many as city of lakes and city of gardens, is today known as city of concrete jungle. Wow! A great acheivement by an Indian city. The software and Outsourcing companies of Bangalore provide livelihood to lakhs of corporate. Job aspirants from all over India come to India’s very own silicon valley to taste the salt of success. They get their first job and take home a handsome amount. At what cost?

Most of the corporate of Bangalore travel a substantial distance everyday. Then comes the regular 8 to 10 hours of the desk work. An average professional travels through the crowded and polluted roads of Bangalore for 44 hours for a months salary. That makes it almost 5.5 working days in a month!

Now let us see how much he works. An average professional sits for 220 hours per month in front of a computer. Imagine siiting for 10 continuous days on a computer. Adding to it the pressure of management jargons like Product release, Targets, Efficiency, Month ends etc. Leave aside the household problems! On top of these petty problems, what happens when there is fear of layoffs? Who is to blame and what can be done to De-Stress corporate of todays world?

Is work from home one of the solutions or car pooling?

The recent Satyam Debacle and Madoff’s beyond life imprisonment are classic examples of why people work with such passion. There is always somebody to benefit from everybody’s work, either the boss or the society. Let the prefernce shift towards society and not the boss.
